Nature of Work

Our role involved product data enrichment and management between Plytix PIM and Magento. The client’s internal team or client initially uploaded new brands and base SKUs into Plytix PIM with available information. Once a brand was assigned to us, our team was responsible for exporting the product data, identifying gaps, and enriching all missing information.

This included sourcing accurate product details from manufacturer websites, updating attributes, variants, options, images, and descriptions, and ensuring each product met Magento standards. Upon completion, the enriched data was uploaded back into Plytix PIM for client review and approval, after which the client published the products to their Magento store as per the season demands.

What We Did

Product Enrichment

Client Review
Magento Publishing
  • We implemented a structured product enrichment workflow to support the client’s large, multi-brand catalog.
  • Once a brand was assigned, products were exported from Plytix PIM, gaps in data were identified, and missing information was collected from manufacturer websites.
  • Product data was standardized to match with Magento requirements, including attributes (size, material, sport type, brand), variants, images, and category mappings.
  • Ensured smooth communication between our team and the client’s team and also managed coordination with the client’s internal team through Zoho Projects, enabling clear visibility into work progress, task status, priorities, issues, deadlines, and completion.
  • Before handover, all product quality checks were done to ensure accuracy and Magento readiness, after which the enriched data was uploaded back into Plytix PIM for client approval and publishing.

Challenges Faced

Challenges faced while managing both existing and newly added products:

  1. Incomplete & Fragmented Product Data

    • Products were initially uploaded into Plytix PIM with partial information only (SKU, brand name, or basic attributes).
    • Essential data such as specifications, variant options, image, descriptions, and compliance details were often missing.
    • Product information varied significantly across multiple brands, each with different data standards.

    Impact:

    • High dependency on manufacturer websites for missing product information.
    • Increased risk of inconsistency and errors.
    • Manual effort to normalize data before Magento publication.
  2. Complexity to Process High-Volume Catalog

    • Managing bulk products with multiple variants (size, color, fit, material) across various sports categories.
    • Each category required custom attribute sets associated with Magento’s structure.
    • It was very critical to check and update attribute mapping consistency between Plytix and Magento.

    Impact:

    • Complex validation rules
    • Time-sensitive enrichment cycles
    • Increased QA effort before publishing
  3. Parallel Team Operations & Avoid Work Overlap

While our team was responsible for data enrichment and validation, the client’s internal team simultaneously:

    • Uploaded brands and base SKUs to PIM
    • Reviewed and approved enriched data
    • Published final products to Magento

    Key Challenge:

Avoiding duplication of work and ensuring clear work progress at each stage of the product management process.

  4. Tracking Work-in-Progress at Scale

Multiple brands were processed simultaneously, each at different stages of completion. Maintaining visibility into which brands were in progress, under review, or completed required disciplined coordination through Zoho as the central communication channel.

  5. Quality Control Before Publishing to Magento

Ensuring every product satisfies Magento standards which includes complete data, valid variants, optimized images, and accurate descriptions was a challenging task to prevent downstream rework and publishing issues.

Results & Impact

  • Succeeded to deliver Magento product listing with complete, accurate descriptions, attributes, variants, and images.
  • Reduced manual effort and rework for the client and internal team by handling perfect product data enrichment.
  • Maintained consistent catalog quality despite parallel workflows across multiple teams.
  • Successfully collaborated, communicated, and tracked tasks using Zoho Projects.
  • Set up a process that allows us to enrich product data and add products easily as the future catalog grows.
